This time last year I was officially a Luddite. No online bank account, a pay as you go i-phone 5, no idea how to operate a hash tag (to be honest still not sure…work in progress). I also found out my job was at risk. To be honest I was so busy doing my job I never had the time to catch up on tech. With my fifties rapidly approaching and a looming likely hood of redundancy, decision time approached. Furlough was now my gift of a lifetime – time.
Roll on one year here I am: watching a You Tube video to service a bike chain, switching between 2 bank accounts apps, using Marketplace to buy a 4D camera drone, Ceri to verbally navigate to a supplier, updating my newly launched website and dancing in my kitchen to the many tunes of Amazon Prime. Hardly Silicon Valley but for me a giant leap in confidence.
If anybody says “too old too learn new tricks”, it more like “too busy to learn new tricks”. So forget the labels and the out of date phrases. Be resilient, keep learning & kitchen discos rock.
