Lancashire Life & Learnings

3 MONTHS SINCE LIFT OFF

In July we escaped into the real world. Rule of 6 was still in place (remember that one). At last we could reconnect over a pint and potted shrimp in the places we love. Bowland and Bay ventured out on its first adventure, with Nancy & her Granddaughter, visiting the beautiful centre of our kingdom, for my first gourmet tour. Only 3 months ago and I have learned so much on this start up journey.

  • Firstly foodies are all ages and they are more curious than ever to seek out the finest artisans, hear their stories and taste the best food from this incredible part of the UK.
  • Secondly folks want a wide variety of tour styles. I keep listening, tweaking and learning. From bespoke adventures to find fabulous chefs, to a Sunday Beer Oktoberfest or an artisan Gin Distillery day. Most tours are a  7 hour full day odyssey. I have now mapped out 2 areas, so rich in artisans, Bowland & Bay will be launching 4 hour tours in the next few months. These will be fast paced tasting tours, to sample foodie delights from cheese, ice cream, beers, gins, bakes and farm shops. A brunch bitesize adventure.
  • Thirdly the world of Northern food is full of soul. The generosity, kindness and support for Bowland and Bay has taken my breath away. From friends booking tours from across the UK and giving valuable feedback. To an amazing 4 page article in Lancashire Life this October. Thank you so much Emma Mayoh for such a welcoming piece – I am over the moon. Sara Cuff took the awesome photos, capturing the fun even on a classic cloudscape day. The Wild Fox Distillery and The Cartford Inn folks were incredibly generous with their locations and their time. Rachel & Richard at Goosnargh Gin, way back in May, put be in touch with Emma. Who are now, well deserved, local foodie celebs from the Hairy Bikers Go North. This is why I love doing this, seeing & sharing the kindness of independent artisans inspires me everyday.

HOW TO BOOK A TASTY TOUR

Bespoke tours can be booked for 4 or more, please start by choosing a date and let us guide you on a taste-bud tour to wow the senses. We travel together to the hidden legends & upcoming stars in the Southern Lake District, Westmorland and Lancashire. Reconnecting folks on days out to celebrate anniversaries, birthdays, pre or post wedding shindigs. We have corporate days out with a difference or just simply friends and family taking time out to be together. Be it bewitching Halloween or magical Christmas, we have tours for up to 8 foodie visitors.

Let Bowland and Bay arrange pick ups either from Lancaster Train Station, or Garstang just off the M6, or from your home in a 10 mile radius of Lancaster.
