Some days you never know where the magic will appear. Thanks to Hetty’s work at Forest of Bowland Sustainable Tourism, I was contacted by fellow AONB advocate Kate, from Lancashire Farm Wools and Lucky Ewe Designs.
Kate specialises in “Farm to Yarn” working with organic farmers in Lancashire and native breed Lonks, known as “The Pride of Lancashire” for their fleeces. I am starting to think I may need an “Arts & Crafts” adventure tour.
Here’s a pic of Lonks wool, from Whitewell, set against tweed woven from Silverdale Black Welsh & Lonk wool. Proper Bowland and Bay flocks. I do so love a learning day…there’s me thinking it was all Herdwicks.
